About Subscriptions Renewal Synchronization

Instead of renewing subscriptions based on the day of creation, you can schedule them to renew simultaneously - for instance, on the first day of every month.

Required: WooCommerce Subscriptions is a premium WooCommerce extension included with WordPress Ecommerce Hosting or as a standalone purchase.

Enable renewal synchronization

While Renewal Synchronization is disabled by default, this feature can be enabled by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Subscriptions and checking the Synchronize Renewals checkbox. You can then select the day that renewals should be processed for each subscription product individually.

Create a synchronized subscription product

Subscription products that are set to renew weekly, monthly, or yearly can be synchronized by going to Products > Edit Product. From there, you can select a renewal date in the Synchronize Renewals field.

The options that you see in this menu depend on the subscription product's renewal period:

  • Weekly: Any day of the week can be selected.
  • Monthly: A specific day of the month can be selected (from the 1st to the 27th day) or the last day of the month can be selected (this will be the 28th, 30th, or 31st day, depending on the month).
  • Yearly: A specific day of the year can be selected.

Purchase a synchronized subscription

Customers will see some specific information so that they understand exactly when their subscription charges will occur:

  • The renewal day is displayed in the subscription price:
    • On the product page.
    • In the total on the cart page.
    • In the total on the checkout page.
  • The first payment day is displayed:
    • On the product page, for simple subscription products (but not for variable subscription products since the date can be different for each variation).
    • On the cart total on the cart page.
    • Below the order total on the checkout page.
